Baby #2

The past 14 months have been the most amazing and rewarding days of my life thus far.  Ryder is such a joyous little boy that brings more happiness to our lives than he could ever know.  We have experienced some more infertility struggles over the past year, but having Ryder makes all of that seem so small.   A lot people say how lucky Ryder is to have us, but the truth is, WE are the lucky ones.

We are blessed beyond measure.  We have a handsome, happy, ornery little 1 year old boy-- all thanks to the selfless love of his birth family.  We can never thank them enough for the gift they have given us.

I almost feel greedy to want another child, but we have so much love to give another baby.  And it would be a shame for Ryder to not have a sibling!  I truly can't imagine him not having a younger brother or sister.

We have started the process to adopt another baby and hope to be officially "active" by the time Travis starts school in August.  We are excited, but not looking forward to the tedious paperwork.  Here goes another round of background checks, fingerprinting, interviews, and updates to our home study.  Not to mention a completely new profile book to update the changes in our lives over the past 18 months.  This book will have such a different feeling to it.... a feeling of happiness and love, instead of sorrow and grief.  I'm excited for that.  The book is the most fun part of the process... especially when we are creating it with our next child in mind.

Its nice to start this process knowing how great it will be in the end and how rewarding it is.  This time, we are surrounded with feelings of excitement and anticipation instead of fear, anxiety, and urgency.  This time, we can relax, enjoy our time with Ryder, and await another life-changing phone call.

Isaiah 61:3 .....to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
