Progress

Since I last posted, things have changed a bit.  We had to cancel our home study with the social worker we had made arrangements with in order to be eligible for the adoption agency in Kansas City.  The woman that runs the organization in Kansas City does all of the home studies herself.  We will be going to her office next week for one whole day, then the following day, she will come to our house.  The home study will all be done within a matter of 2 days, which is so awesome and exciting for us!  From the date the home study is complete, it will be around 3-4 weeks and we will officially be considered "active".  Being "active" means that she will be actively networking for us in order to match us with a birth mother.  So as of our "active" date, we will officially be expecting a phone call (hopefully very soon) to tell us that we have been chosen by a birth mother or birth parents.

We are beyond excited to have this part of the adoption process behind us and to be waiting for "the call".  The home study requires a lot of paperwork-- a background check, financial information/records, proof of employment, current health physical, birth mother letter, profile book, letters of reference, proof of insurance, birth certificates, and marriage license-- need I say more?  They are going to know more about us than we probably ever would have realized ourselves before going through this process.

One thing we are sure of, is that this precious child will be well worth the grueling paperwork and the agonizing wait.  God already knows which child is going to be ours, I can't wait for Him to let us in on His little secret.  What I would give for a glimpse of our future family!  We are definitely getting closer to that joyous day.
